:: OUR AIM

To serve, promote, watch over, advance and mutually protect the interests of the General and Commercial Aviation industry, and to act as a link between the industry and government, government agencies and other public bodies within the Southern African region.

:: OUR PURPOSE

To represent the interests of member companies and affiliated Associations at local, national and regional levels as we provide a platform for all members of the commercial aviation industry to voice their concerns and participate in the affairs of the sector and interact as a unified force within Southern Africa.

Support and promote the growth and well-being of a profitable general aviation industry in Southern Africa on the premise that growth is essential for the industry’s future welfare and to the future economy of the Southern African region.

General aviation provides services both to industry and private individuals which are vitally important to all the economies of Southern Africa ensuring that importance is fully understood and appreciated by the public and, most importantly, by our leaders and partners within the respective governments.

:: OUR CONSTITUTION

We are primarily a trade and lobbying association which through its Memorandum and Articles of Association is governed by a Board of senior executives from our member companies, with the chief executive officer and his staff supported by all affiliates and members driving our projects and initiatives.

We provide secretarial and administrative support services to our affiliated associations, noting that each affiliated association has its own elected executive committee responsible for managing the activities of the respective affiliated association. These affiliated associations also provide a pool of expertise to assist with advice on specialist technical issues. The President of each affiliated association is represented on THE COMMERCIAL AVIATION ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN AFRICA NPC Board bringing together like minds from within the membership, enabling the collective to draw on a wealth of knowledge, experience and talent to tackle any negotiations with government, aviation service providers or other stakeholder bodies. Consequently, our association has evolved as a respected and effective lobbying force on behalf of Commercial and General Aviation.

:: MEMBERSHIP

AS and independent organisation which has steadily grown in its representation of general aviation operators and traders in Southern Africa our. Members typically include non-scheduled operators, companies operating business aircraft, aircraft maintenance organisations, suppliers of aircraft and spares, aviation-related training organisations, companies supplying or supporting the industry and other providers in the general aviation sector.

The funding of the Association should be shared by the entire General Aviation industry, and each additional member strengthens the Association’s bargaining power and its ability to deliver on our objectives

  • Campaigning – CAASA attempts to change situations or introduce new procedures to the benefit of the industry.
  • Monitoring – CAASA monitors changes in legislation and in the marketplace.
  • Collectivism – CAASA brings together people in the General Aviation industry.
  • Promotion – CAASA supports a variety of aviation organisations.
  • Information – CAASA keeps its members advised on the latest information through newsletters, bulletins, progress reports, briefings on industry trends, new legislation and industry news not normally found in the trade press.
  • Benefits – as a member of CAASA brings further value with free subscription to “World Airnews”, Guidance on regulatory matters, assistance on company discussions with the regulator, changes in regulation, to name a few
  • Code of Ethics – All members of CAASA affiliated associations pride themselves with honouring our Code of Ethics that governs their business and aviation activities.

:: OUR POLICIES

THE COMMERCIAL AVIATION ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN AFRICA NPC achieves its aims through the following policies:

  1. It promotes, provides for and fosters co-operation between its members and other organisations on matters of common concern.
  2. It acts as a mouthpiece to express the general policy and views of the General Aviation industry.
  3. It provides advice and information to members on matters of common interest.
  4. It enters into discussions and campaigns with government and other authorities to obtain rights, privileges and concessions for the General Aviation industry.
  5. It assists with expert advice on business and aviation-related issues.

:: MISSION STATEMENT

We, the members of CAASA and affiliate associations, through unity, are committed to delivering a professionalism in all we do, whilst displaying a spirit of integrity, quality and co-operation.

Within the framework of the constitution of the Republic of South Africa, we shall promote, manage and enhance the efficiency of our business, coupled with a safety commitment to our client, the general public and our employees.

We shall hold in sacred trust the rights and privileges conferred upon us and pledge unyielding adherence to these precepts for the commercial aviation industry.

:: OUR CODE OF ETHICS

  • Actively promote the interests of General Aviation
  • Represent the interest of members in an honest and transparent manner
  • Be open and transparent in all internal and external communications.
  • Project the image of honest, fair, courteous, efficient and professional dealings by maintaining a reputation for honesty, integrity and fair dealing
  • Engage actively with all relevant statutory bodies in the interests of promoting aviation
  • Ensure that all relevant legislation’s is adequately publicised and members understand their obligations in respect of such laws and regulations
  • Make adequate and reasonable arrangements in respect of liability which may arise from the conduct of their business
  • Encourage active and healthy relationships between and amongst CAASA members
  • Encourage the continuous upgrading of aviation education, skills and knowledge
